Jamie Goddard :: Goddard Farrier Services

Goddard Farrier Services was setup by myself, Jamie Goddard, in 2001.

As a qualified farrier and skilled craftsman I apply a sound knowledge of both the theory and practice of my craft to cater for equestrian clients in Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Oxon and Berkshire.

Having recently relocated my base to the village of Highworth, to the east of Swindon, I now have a fully operational forge there at Wickstead Farm.

Fully conversant with equine skeletal structure, and in particular bio-mechanical relationships between the anatomical structures of the limb, I have an excellent reputation for shoeing even the most difficult cases where other farriers fail.

I specialise in remedial work and have a sound knowledge of the pathology of conditions affecting both foot and limb which can cause lameness, and am thoroughly acquainted with the traditional materials and the modern synthetic materials used in creating corrective shoes for faulty gaits.

Equipped with the latest iPhone technology, I am able to receive X-rays on site of the lower limb, knee and hock etc from veterinary specialists, discuss cases in detail, and provide treatment immediately.

I work with a number of Elite competition riders within all equine disciplines - most notably eventing, where amongst others, I shoe INONOTHING, Paul Tapner's winner of the 2010 Badminton Horse trials; and Jane and David Hamilton's Private Rudolf, which was ridden to a team gold by Tom McEwen at the 2011 European Young Riders competition at Blair Castle.

I have been retained in a number of consultancy roles including the high profile appointment of farrier to the Endurance GB Young Riders.

I have professional indemnity insurance and I am a registered Farrier with the Farriers Registration Council. I also have an Approved Training Farrier (ATF) certificate.
